Over the course of 10 years, Secure Ideas' staff has performed countless penetration tests of web applications and networks. During this time it has been made clear that required security measures can be different depending on the applications in use, the network at hand, or the business model relied upon. Given these wide variations, Secure Ideas has developed different levels of testing that companies can chose from in order to fit their needs for any given network or application.

Traditionally, it is common for businesses to require a full-scale, invasive, and sometimes expensive penetration test on an annual basis. Secure Ideas was started in an effort to meet these needs, and continues to do so on a daily basis. However, Secure Ideas also wanted to go beyond this standard practice and begin to provide a more affordable, less invasive, and less costly alternative for networks and applications that simply do not demand the in-depth nature of a penetration test but that should not simply be ignored in a company's security assessment.

Here enters MySecurityScanner, a subscription service provided by Secure Ideas, that provides a combination of time-tested, industry approved, automated and manual vulnerability assessments on a regular basis at a price any company can afford. MSS can be configured to run on a monthly, weekly, or on-demand basis, depending on the need of your business. The goal of MSS is two-fold. First, its purpose is to alert your company of any high-risk issues in your network or application(s). Secondly, it is to provide peace of mind that not a single aspect of your company's network or applications has flown below the security radar, helping to ensure the protection of sensitive information for you and your customers.

It is important to note that MSS is not designed to be an in-depth penetration test. It is a vulnerability assessment that provides an understanding of the potential risks exposed within the business. Penetration tests are used to perform an in-depth exploit-based test to determine vulnerabilities and the risk they expose a company to. With the vulnerability assessments within MSS, Secure Ideas provides an understanding of potential risks an organization can use to improve their security posture. In a comprehensive security plan, both penetration tests and vulnerability assessments work together to provide a complete security picture.
